To better understand the tone and visual direction of the game, I started creating paint-overs using existing screens as a base—often framing them as potential loading screens. This helped me quickly explore atmosphere, composition, and UI integration in a way that aligned with the game's world.
It also became a useful tool for collaboration. By sharing these explorations with the art director, we were able to get on the same page visually much faster. The work resonated with the team, and I was encouraged to continue developing them.
While this wasn't my primary responsibility, it became a valuable way to contribute to the broader vision of the game. It's something I genuinely enjoy, but more importantly, it helped bridge UX thinking with the game's artistic direction.
